oh yeah totally. i listen to pink reason soo much that its hard to even comprehend that they have even more stuff coming out. god ii love that band. they arent heavy per se, but they still seem more devastating than bands that actually are really really heavy. warmer milks full length too. followup to the amazing psychedelic folk-core dirge monster that was "penetrationm initial" pretty sure i heard something about a new lexie mountain and then for smaller releases the new stuff coming out on hanson looks killer. dilloway has rad taste ive realized. all the wolf bros do.

i'm excited about the new eat skull and vivian girls record. but, what i'm really waiting for is the chain and the gang album that should be coming out next month. it's already my album of the year before i even heard it. no exceptions or subsitutions (even if it happens to suck)!
oh and i think a new mika miko release is supposed to come out this year. |

Awesome. Mika Miko needs to tour outside of the west coast.
I'd add Puffy Areolas to that list, although I'm not sure what the status of their full-length is. Homostupids were great live when I last saw them, I'm interested to see how they'll sound on the record. |

I've heard a track off the new Wooden Shjips album, today, and it made me look forward to it big time. New Pink Reason album will surprise a lot of the fans, apparently, but it's not likely to come out for some time. If Fursaxa puts a new one out this year, it should all be good with the world.
Nice Face Meth Teeth Lightning Bolt I'm curious about the new Eat Skull record too. |

yeah, olson is my fave wolf dude. the american tapes releases have been phenomenal lately. they just put out a new uneven universe 7", they have to be one of the best noise bands in the world. also, cardboard sax is uneven universe with olson himself on noise destroyed reeds. the sound is blown out noise and fucked up jazz, it could fit into the genre i describe as "psychedelic industrial death jazz". ive also been digging on the new monuments casettes; new monuments=graveyards minus olson on reeds plus c spencer yeh on violin. very chamber music like, morton feldman influenced. wasteland jazz unit's "static solar caves" is the best noise jazz ive ever heard not made by borbetomagus. the green palace tapes are rad. oh, and the wolf eyes/rubber o cement collab is brilliant, the bands compliment eachother wonderfully. for so long people talked shit on wolf eyes and thier scene, "poor quality control" blah blah. But if you ask me, those guys are keeping american noise interesting. every label (american, hanson, aa, gods of tundra) has an aesthetic and uses interesting art and packaging. its been easy to forget about wierd drone and harsh noise and static and cutup and musique concrete and all that because there has been so many great fucking ROCK music as of late. I think everyone on here is a rock music first' experimental second. But, I need to switch it up once in a while, and even though I've been spinning the hank IV full length non stop, there's still been plenty of cock esp tapes in my boombox as well.

also, olson's solo stuff is always pretty great. spykes, guam river yellow philharmonic, and the other million names he records under. he just has sucha unique style. i mean, his sax playing is totally awesome, and even quite in the tradition of the free jazz greats. at the same time, the guy is a total electronics whizz and a talented instrument builder. his records always utilize so many different sounds. i really like the fact that hes almost like a trained and educated composer, but still refuses to shake that punk caveman style hes known for. out of everyone in wolf eyes, i feel like hes the one that, if he left, the band would be fucked. when wolf eyes was still a duo, dilloway and young, they were onto something for sure, but were stuck as this industrial meets punk sort of thing. when olson came in, everything just clicked, and they became this like noise monolith. they have a signature beat for fuck's sakes? what noise band can you think of with a signature beat? crash worship maybe, but not many. when dilloway left the band in 2005, i was worried, even thought they might be done. but when i saw them live, dilloway was missed sorely during the more ripping noise and chaotic breadowns with his spazzed out not wave guitar stylings and electronic atmospheric dread. but at the same time, i was digging connely's guitar playing, which gave the band some steady metal riffing to work around. point being, as talented as dilloway is (which is to say, much more so than connely) his style was replaceable in wolf eyes, olson on the other hand, is not replaceable.
that was such a blab, my apologies.
