Does anyone know of the existence of a band that is made up completely of vocal instruments?
What i mean is,do you know a band where every instrument is made up of breathing and vocal sounds?

there are quite a few groups doing vocal drones at the moment, but i can't think of any "bands" that operate w/vocals only and no instruments.mike patton has done stuff with rahzel, maybe that counts.
i presume you aren't looking for things like tibetan gyuuto monks or whatever?

Do you mean people doing voices that sound like instruments. A bit like that Honda advert only guitars and not cars?

john cage did some compositions for choirs, don't ask me what they're called though. because i couldn't tell you. because i don't know what they're called.
i heard one performed once though and it was really amazing, the choir were all saying the different phoenetic sounds that comprised the name of the conductor or something and they gradually shifted through all these different sounds.

Bjork's last album did that. "Medulla", she uses just her voice, I think the album got mixed reviews overall from what I recall. I like Bjork, but I haven't heard this album so I can't give you my opinon on it.

There's that a cappella sideproject of amt, called zubizuva X I think. I saw them last year, it was kawabata makoto, tsuyama atsushi and yoshida tatsuya repeating their name in multiple rhytms over and over again.

Mike Patton did a couple experimental all-vocal albums. Haven't heard them, though.

an austrian hip hop/pop band, Bauchklang, doesn't use any instruments aside from the human voice. But, like i said, it's pop and not in the league of Mike Patton or Kawabata, that are mentioned here.

There is a Stockhausen composition. I remember not its name, and I don't have a copy. I know a chap who does. Entirely with phonemes. I'm not clear as to what you want, but something like that? You've heard Alvin Lucier's "I am sitting in a room"?

What's going on? Why did I drink so much this afternoon...?
