Weight issues are very very touchy. If you share living arrangements with this person, you should probably start be setting a good example yourself and try to get them involved in some sort of exercise regime that you yourself participate in as well. Drinking loads of water and standard exercise works wonders.

not the same, being so skinny is equally dangerous to the health, but far less humiliating to have attention drawn upon. being overweight is a deeply personal problem people deal with, and when people offer suggestions it appears as criticism no matter how you slice it, which offends and hurts. in our society being overweight is commonly associated with personal ineptitude and even laziness..
