can anyone recommend any cello music? solo/groups, anything?
im probably not looking for anything particularly avant garde, maybe somewhere between there and classical............ or just classical. actually, i dont really know what i want. |

This isn't strictly a "cello piece", but it's lovely, and the cello in it is especially beautiful.
On a completely different note, I love Arthur Russel's cello playing.

My friend an frequent cohort Derek M. Johnson from Olympia is a true gem of experimental cello music. Incredibly decent human being too, which may or may not inform his playing. Does a nice cover of the Doctor Who theme as well.

This is a cool band from Chicago. Usually the only instruments are two cellos. I don't know what's up with their current songs, because the old ones they had up were much, much better, but they seem to change the songs all the time so check back and they might get something good up again. "Barry" is still one of the best songs they've written, though. |
