Sister is a no because no master tapes. Other's might be possible...maybe depending on who has/gets the rights/masters and what they want to do with them. Matador does RIs, so if they could get masters, it'd be somewhat likely they'd happen.

Well couldn't they still technically reissue Sister? They couldn't remaster it, but I'm sure there are the master stampers out there.

I suppose a reissue...but technically, everything before DDN has been reissued with bonus tracks.

The last US RI of Evol on Vinyl LP was in 1990.
Looking at how much some of these go for on ebay (especially Confusion is Sex) is making me sad. How am I ever supposed to complete my SY vinyl collection? |

you mean deluxe reissue?
if so I really would like to see bad moon rising (my favorite album of all times, basically) and confusion is sex reissued. not in order to see them remastered (what would be the point in remastering cis? its production is part of what it is), but to be able to hear all the unknown gems from those eras (ala "cat in the hat", or the unknown songs on sonic death). i'm sure there's tons of them |

I have heard that a few times. Maybe they could re-record the album in 2009. Put a new spin on it. Maybe a live studio thing? |

Wrong, I just checked the mustang site, Geffen did a reish of Sister in 94, i.e. after EJS was released which is supposedly recorded over the Sister masters, so the question is what did Geffen use for the reissue? |

You're right, the Sister master tapes probably do exist. See this thread: http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=18660 AS I HAVE PROOF |

i've tried hearing sister under ejs and never got anywhere with it. also why in god's name would they need to record over the sister masters, did geffen not give the band an advance to record their next album?

it's there, just need good headphones and the reflexs to turn the volume back down to not shatter your ears, the clearest i heard it is the lull between winer's blues and bull in the heather where you can hear Thurston say "Schizophernia is taking me home" i'd personally love a reissue box of everything together, digipak cds, and 180gram vinyl, that vinyl box would be quite interesting considering how many double lp (DDN, Dirty, Washing Machine, ATL, and Nurse) and the rearragned tracks there are in their later lps |

There was a mid-90's Geffen pressing. Quote:
It's only the Neutral pressing of Confusion that should get that spendy - I got an SST copy from eBay for under $10 within the past year (to go alongside my Neutral, Zensor & Blast First copies ) As ever with eBay, it's just a case of having patience and waiting for the good deals - I've got vinyl pressings of every SY album, and haven't paid more than about £20 for any of them - that includes Neutral copies of the debut & Confusion and a numbered Walls Have Ears. There will probably be a price spike for the next 2-3 months due to interest in the new album bringing more attention to all SY listings, but they'll settle down again in due course. |
