last ep of season 3 thick of it tonight

all you americans will probably not have heard of this show. the last episode of season 3 is on tonight.

season 1 and 2 are in fact the best live action comedy tv i can possibly think of ever. alltho i don't watch tv, i smashed it up with a hammer and made it into a candle holder, because it's disgusting shit. but anyway, thick of it is worth watching. seriouslay, i doubt they will show this in the us, maybe bbc america will, i think they tried to make a us version but it didnt get picked up.

so you all go torrent it now and you'll be happy. i have a feeling gmku will like it because he likes mad men and its sort of his style. and cantanky will like the malcolm tucker swear fests. it originates the phrase "come the fuck in and fuck the fuck off" that you possibly have heard people saying. and classics like "i'll rip out your fuckin lungs and wear them as a little waistcoat"

now the first 2 series were fucking amazing - and they starred this guy

chris langham, but then he got caught with paedo porn in real life, and so for the third series they replaced him with

this lady, and the show jumped the fuckin shark completely. but it's still miles above everything else.

now the 3rd series is worth watching, but don't start with it, start with the first 2 and the 2 specials.

it's about new labour (who would be vaguely the uk equivalent of the democrats and our still in power here) and how they do politics in the uk - the postmodern way, spin and false appearances and worrying about what we are being seen to do and say. it shows the utter ridiculousness and petty office bullshit that are closer to political reality than the supposed to be omnipotent godhead that most people confuse a government for. there is also a flim called in the loop, which has james gandolfini in it aswell and is about the run up to the war in iraq. i used to think that it did new labour a favour by turning their corruption and the war in iraq into a very british farce, but then i read someone elses interpretation of it which was that it was meritous as an expose of the way politics is really done.

you don't have to know anything about politics so don't let that put you off. there is a dvd set with the first 2 series and the 2 specials available in the uk so if you don't want to torrent it get that.

i killed my tv many years ago for similar reasons. then in the late 90s i discovered buffy. ha. ha ha. ha ha ha.

someday i'll check this out, thanks for the heads up. i think the bbc is on boxee.

This is a great programme, one of the few TV shows in the last few years that've made me pay attention. Up there with Brass Eye, Monkey Dust and Curb, I'd say.

N'ik, did you ever watch 'yes, prime minister'? That was very good, and stands up as good comedy even now.

The Malcolm monologues in this series have been particularly good.

I agree about The Thick of It, which has been about the only thing I've been regularly watching of late ... besides The Restaurant, which I've become completely addicted to (although I may have to boycott next week's final due to my utter loathing of the two remaining couples).

I saw him at Bank tube station the other day. He seemed to notice that I'd recognised him and looked a bit shifty, like I was going to try and set light to him or something. Poor sod.

The Thick Of It and Peep Show are the only two TV programmes I watch regularly.

Peter Capaldi is fantastic in anything but Malcolm Tucker is such a great character.
