i'm getting asked by various family members what i want for christmas, and rather than just asking for hmv vouchers i've decided to ask for specific cd's.
I have Monsoon and Amarillo Ramp, what other Lee albums are good? |

"East Jesus" or "Music For Stage and Screen". Or, better still, the "Drift" DVD.
EDIT - Also, "Envisioning" with William Hooker. |

Dirty Windows is best. Like, best ever. Like, as good or better than many SY albums. It's fucking amazing.

"Dirty Windows" is fantastic. "Fuck Shit Up" is seriously in the top 10 for
recordings that a member(s) of SY has/have had anything to do with.

I second East Jesus and the Drift DVD.
Or get some Text of Light. Or, If you don't mind sending your parents out to search on ebay for your christmas present, the Outside My Window The City Is Never Silent LP is a good one too. |

How the hell are Ma and Pa, or whichever family members, going to know where to get Lee Ranaldo records from? If they're going to Amazon it, they might aswell just give you the money. |

when i was 15 and oblivious to things like certain records being obscure and hard to obtain (i thought you could order anything from HMV) i asked my mum to get me a lee ranaldo record for christmas and she got me From Here Infinity on vinyl where every track ends in a locked groove, so maybe have more faith in your folks. |

my mum and dad fucking rock
but yeah, they could just give me the money, but i remember being young and opening actual presents. I miss that. And besides, it'll do them good to do some hunting for records, especially Lee records. that and i've become a mean old bastard... |

Pretty much any of the Ranaldo/Hooker stuff is good. "The Celestial Answer" or "Envisioning" are worth checking out. Wooden Wand "James and the Quiet" had some Ranaldo action, Have them give you an Ebay or Amazon gift card or whatever, you can pick up most of these quite inexpensively.

I like it. I wish it was produced a bit differently. Sometimes William's percussion is a bit loud, drowning Lee out a bit too much. |
