I managed to 'acquire' a download of this boxset, which is 50 discs, and took like 4 days to download, but it's totally cool.
I've only just started to plow my way through it. Has anyone else got this, and what do you think?

You utter mentalist.
I saw a hard copy in a store a fair few years ago, but I didn't have the money for it then, and haven't had the money since. I reckon you should try and listen to it start to finish. And see if you don't go completely insane.

They did a complete play at the Colchester arts centre a few years ago. One of the guys in my band went. Apparently there were some people who stayed for the duration. Ladies, made goth ladies. I want their phone numbers.
There was a chap from the Guardian who listened to the Throbbing Gristle 24-hour box-set. Here is a link to his experience. http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/...867116,00.html I really hope you do it. They played it (TG24) in its entireity over Christmas on Resonance a couple of years ago. It being Christmas, I could only muster 5 hours or so spread over the days. I seem to remember there was a stream from a German website which was playing the entire Merzbox recently. Yes, Mr The Usher, you should try and listen to it all. Perhaps do it for a hearing-related charity.

O.K. I've added everything to my Itunes, and the whole thing, 50 discs, would take 2 days, 1 hour, 49 minutes and 27 seconds to listen to! Man, I'm tempted to listen to it, maybe no continously, but just everyday until I get through it...

I heard it's full of crap but some of the discs are really great.
Shit, does he have like some employees that he pays for creating so much material? Overproduction, I would say.

Yeah, probably some rubbish in it, can't imagine that this much stuff can be all good.
Maybe once i've finished listening to it, I'll write a review disc by disc, if anyones interested...

Someone had a blog with that on it [cue someone with better Googling skills than me providing a link]. I'd recommend that you do likewise, because his review was a bit jaded, to my mind. The more's the merrier when it comes to somethig as ridiculous as that.

Listening to Merzbow for hours can indeed damage your brain cells and i am living proof of that. The fact that it might or not be a good thing is too late for me to find out.

some radio station played the 'box from start to finish on one occasion.
probably the most adventurous, ground-breaking and ingenius idea in radio since john peel played trout mask replica in its entirety to the unsuspecting listeners of radio one.

damn dude. I've never heard merzbow. I would try this though after a sampling of some less time consuming work.
