I'm so effing tired of sand I can't stand it. White sand, brown sand, it's all the same. I understand there is more variety with rocks, and more substance and structure. I already picked up some granite this summer...I actually dug it. Willing to sample more, but I need ideas.

they're formed over millions of years by layers and layers of natural gas, rock, etc, that press down on eachother and all of the pressure makes it compact into a pretty rock.

Did anyone mention hematite yet?
That's the only one that even interests me really, but it's not a gemstone, it's iron oxide. ...like those shiny silver & white gold metals too. As for rocks, I like turquoise a little...native american silver jewelry & so forth. On the precious side, sapphires (next to silver or white gold) are nice. I don't care for the bling like diamonds at all...too fucking tacky. http://images.google.com/images?sour...te&sa=N&tab=wi |

I have quite a nice collection of geological specimens, all ordered and catalogued, both found and purchased, which I would be more than happy to put online if it wasn't for the fact that you'd would probably be bored in no time.
Hunting for trilobite fossils is a favourite thing and any kind of sedimentary rock is fascinating, quite fascinating. My 'O' Level geology tutor was a top man, and the the one thing that made school a little interesting.
