So, I've only just got into this thanks to a mate.
http://www.pandora.com/ It's a musical genome thing, it picks songs based on what you tell it you like. Unlike most of these I've tried, it's right more than it's wrong. It's come up with some blinders so far, although it lacks in Classical and 'world' music by its own admission. I'm confused as to why the entireity of its selections for the songs it plays are based on my (apparent) love of 'extensive vamping'. Sorry if someone's posted this already. Actually, Fuck you. Your opinion isn't important.

It is a cool site, but it often plays a lot of crapola.

I'm glad there's band called 'Fish Karma'. I never knew that previously, so thanks.

Yeah, www.pandora.com
...yet another last.fm clone. I sometimes have pangs that I had stuff out in Music Today's warehouse and talked to them about my idea and they passed. The same people (www.musictoday.com) are a huge seller of music-related merchandise and ticket outlet. --- Have anyone seen www.sonicliving.com? It's trying to be different by helping to organize your local live music calendar. So far, they are only up-and-running for a few major cities. |

Interestingly enough, I had some death metal band come up when I made a station for Sonic Youth...
I'll admit that, yes, it was discordant and there was a lot of feedback, but it's not the same thing... What's even more interesting is that they played "Death To Our Friends" afterwards, and I didn't notice all that much of a difference... so maybe if SY played with heavier distortion, they'd be categorized as death metal for some songs? |
