Yes, it's in the wrong section. Yawn. I know already - see edit below.
Anyone else care about cricket? It's one of my passions. Day three of the FIrst Test has just started. Sri Lanka are currently 117/6, desperately attempting to avoid the follow-on in answer to England's mighty 1st innings total of 551/6 declared. So far the heroes for England have been Kevin Pieterson for his 158, and debutant Sajid Mahmmod, who made a great start to his England career yesterday, taking three wickets for nine runs. edit: ha ha, wrong forum section, how did that happen? How quirky of me. Um...er...(thinks hard)...erm, has anyone heard the band Cricket: England vs Sri Lanka...no, no-one will fall for that, erm...oh drat...um...f***...Ah! What music do you associate with cricket, or something. Does that rescue me?

Hey Hip Priest!! The music I associate with cricket(s) is the song Sun King from Abbey Road.
Actually, I know nothing about the sport. Probably because I'm an American. I love baseball. Probably also because I'm an American. |

Hi noumenal, I've only just put in yr cello thread that e never seem to be logged in at the same time nowadays.
THe music people in England associate with cricket most is the track 'Soul Limbo' by Booker T and The M.G.'s, asfor some decades it has been the theme to BBC Radio 4's Test Match Special.

Normally I wouldn't prefer either team, but the West Ham/UAE thing irritated me, so I'll go for Liverpool.
HA HA! Flintoff has just got Jayawardene out. 131/8, the follow-on will be soon. The match to end within three days, weather permitting?

I'm MAnchester City, myself (we'll have to get a derby thread going next year - the winning supporter recieves rep?), although I live about a ten minute walk from Tranmere Rovers ground.
Chaminda Vaas has just been dropped at second slip. Gah!

No, I listen to Test Match Special. I love listening to Aggers and Blowers and CMJ. It's the best way to enjoy it. I'll watch Channel 5's highlights tonight, though. I'm not giving money to Murdoch and Sky.
You can stream it online through Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, or The Telegraph do a good live scoreboard. 145/8. Nuwan Kulasekara is nicking a few singles.

This is England we're talking about so expect a 9th wicket stand of about 173 between Vaas and Kulasekara.....

Ha! That was the bad old days, they seem very distant indeed. We kick ass now. I see Monty Panesar has been doing rather well for us today, excellent. Sri Lanka are 183/3 in their second innings - looks like merely a matter of time, and a win sometime tomorrow. Quote:
We were out walking for a bit, but we got back in time to see some of it. Two of West Ham's goals were stuffy, weren't they? Liverpool deserved to win, mayybe, but the commentator said West Ham had played the better game.

Anything with a ball and a bat sounds good to me. I'd like to try and play it someday.

A friend of mine from Trinidad explained this game to me once. It made sense at the time, but for the life of me I can't remember a damn thing about it. Wiki time.

World Cup's on this year, in case the Brits* on this board are the 'cares about cricket' type and not the 'target demographic for The Hundred' type.
*And anyone else who likes it! I just don't see any of you around
