Uh, maybe they find her smart, witty, funny, and endearing (well at least as much as you can convey over a message board) and hence are attracted to her personality.

As long as a person isn't flat out fucking hideous these traits can make a an average looking person look incredibly hot, or I guess, if you're a really unshallow person, make anyone attractive.
