I always use G, and it sounds super happy, especially when you play the G shape with your fingers on the 10th and 11th frets

Open-tuned G chord (DGDGBD--low to high). Stones use it on just about everything. All kinds of things are incredibly easy to play in open G tuning, and often kind of pretty.
