much about their sales numbers hasn't been published, but if i recall correctly, it sold somewhere in the range of 17,000 in it's first week, around half that in it's second week

"Canadian college charts" sounds more like a chart of playlists for college radio stations... who tend to play "alternative" (ugh!) rock and stuff. I seriously doubt Sonic Youth would ever top the actual sales charts anywhere. Sales charts don't mean much in this day anyway.... I think Coldplay sold the most albums of anyone on the planet in 2008 and even that was only 7 million worldwide. |

The Corporate Ghost DVD was awarded gold status for music DVD sales in Canada... that just means more than 5,000 copies sold!

I think you could pretty much translate those sales figures to USA/Europe/Japan/Australia/etc.
But OK then.... Canadians are the best SY fans in (their part of) the world!!! |

sonic youth still have not ahd ANY album go gold in the USA, and that is 500,000 sales. the closest ones were EJST&NS and Dirty.

Wrong. That's for CDs/LPs... NOT DVDs. http://www.cria.ca/gold/1004_g.php Video Certifications October 2004 Platinum 10,000 Units Oscar Peterson "Oscar Peterson A Night In Vienna" Universal Music / Verve Gold 5,000 Units Sonic Youth "Corporate Ghost-The Videos: 1990-2002" Universal Music / Geffen you can search here: http://www.cria.ca/cert_db_search.php .. and find that none of their albums reached gold/platinum status in Canada. And I seriously doubt it happened anywhere else in the world either. |
