I like pretty much all phases of Bathory.
Quorthon foresaw not only black metal, but "Viking" metal as well. Pretty fucking visionary talent. |

Awesome band. Their self-titled is especially brilliant. I can relate to them, because I'm quite Satanic, myself. I even named my Monster Hunter Tri character after them.

i love bathory. the s/t and "blood fire death" are two of my favorite black metal albums ever. i'm not as into their viking metal stuff, but some of it is pretty good.

I like Bathory, but I think he is pretty overrated sometimes.
Just because someone was first doesn't mean he is the best. But ofcourse I am a fan, at least of his early stuff. The viking-stuff are pretty listenable but not very intressting in my opinion. |
