now theres a smack in the head. Good luck to em whatever they decide to do, they are a family first and foremost and that has to be their priority. Kinda stunned myself tbh, but yknow, i dont think now is the time for the funeral service, the wake, or the final 70 minute blowout version of The Diamond Sea, lets see what happens.

I don't like these shit news at all. Infinite thanks for everything they've provided us with through the power of their music, and all the best wishes for the present and the future in all aspects of their lives even if this could mean the end of Sonic Youth.

I literally gasped and said "OH-NO-FUCK-FUCK!!!" when I read this.

I don't know what to say, other than to offer the condolence that "separated" doesn't always end in "divorced".

I can't believe it. I just can't believe it. Extremely sad.

Also- doesn't really bode well for the continued existence of the band.
Anyone else considered this?

They haven't announced they've split up yet. It's certainly disappointing to learn that a dream couple is splitting up. All the best to them. They seem like a relaxed pair of people when it comes to keep the personal where it should stay.
