just thought id share about some things that happened over the past day, then y'all can share weird music related stories.
last night i saw dino jr. it was a great show. i didnt like much their mid 90s and new stuff that they played but all the stuff from the 1st 4 albums was great. i brought with me 3 dellilah cds for the band. after the show they went to the backstage area, and i asked the doorman if i could possibly go in not to bother them, just to give them the cds. he asked, and eventually i got in. murph was walking around shirtless and lou and J were crashed on a couch. i handed j the cdssaid something like this is my band from j'lem great show thanks blah blah blah. he kinda stared at the cds put em next to him, lou smiled and i left. i kind of wished that roberto instigator was there, it would have been awesome to rock to dino with him. i saw moshe though. but here is a really crazy story. i have a new band, its just me and dellilah's other guitarist. we play sludge/drone/folk/morricone kinda stuff. two guitars, loops, clarinet, drums etc. since its just us, we dont go to a rehearsal space, we just practice in the living room of my apt. we usually play till 11 so the neighbors dont call the cops, but tonight we played till midnight. at like quarter to midnight we improvised a new song which was amazing, very sung tongzish. at midnight i hear a knock on my door and im sure that its the cops. i open it and theres this cute young woman there. she asked if we were the ones playing, i hesitated cause i was sure she wanted to yell at us for the racket. i said yes and that i was sorry about the noise. she said that it was fine and that she live in the building across from me and that everytime we rehjearse she hears us and loves it. she said a bunch of nice things, it was really cool. for someone to go out of their way to give us a simple compliment, its even cooler if someone had told us at a show. we told her that we have our 1st show next week and i got her # to "tell her about upcoming shows" anyhoo sorry for the rant. what cool music experiances have you all had?

um, a lot. a scary one that springs to mind is last time i saw lightning bolt and one of my brothers friends from prep school took five hits of acid, it took five mins of the bolt untill he started seizuring and got taken off by a stretcher. he was fine.
another one that springs to mind is radiohead a few years ago. (warning: sappy wimpy love story ahead) i went with a group of friends, and in particular, a girl who i was way into. prior to that night, she seemed to have absolutley no interest in me whatsoever. one of my friends brought some tabs of ecstasy, and a few of us took one each. during radiohead's show, i was roling real nice, and the girl i liked was too. we ended up being together the entire show, connecting, etc.. all because of ecstasy and radiohead. we ended up dating for two months after that. didnt last long but were still friends. not to mention, radiohead was in top form that night (it was the hail to the thier tour). sorry if that was to cheesy to handle.

CPC Gangbangs in Montreal (sometime in February). As the band was starting, the bassist tripped into one of his amps (small stage) knocking it over, which also knocked out the output jack in the bass, to which the tip broke off and rolled out the back door (small venue). I'll never forget the bassist scrambling around to fix the problem while the rest of the band played right on. At one point during the same show the singer lit his jacket on fire and lept into the crowd. ROCK 'N ROLL!!
Awesome show.

besides drinking adulterated vodka, my then-girlfriend also drinking adulterated vodka and behaving like she was on a bad trip and getting pissed at me because my high school crush was there and told my girlfriend this girl was the "love of my life" then telling my crush that we went out when we didn't then asked her for relationship advice at the fatboy slim show in 2001?
i'll think of something... |

Sitting at a Blonde Redhead show and having Kazu ask if there were any fans in the audience...
My friend ending up with a hairline wrist fracture when my watch hit her in the arm when someone was thrown into me at Dino Jr.

I dunno, there's always some drama at shows and shit. The craziest thing that's happened to me regarding my own music was definitely either porn star Sasha Grey emailing me for a CD, director Lloyd Kaufman (of Troma) wanting my music, and Crucial Blast asking me to releasing something.
I once played a show with RUINHORSE where some dude brought in snowballs and was throwing them at the band before us, so when we played, everything was shorting out and glitching. We played as if nothing was happening. Pretty awesome. By the last 2 songs, NOTHING was working except the mic, so I just got on and ranted and made fun of people. Then, we made noise and left. At a Scissor Shock show, I got 17 people on stage and this old lady kicked us out when one of the dudes broke an acoustic guitar -- over his knee. No damage to any of their stuff, but it banged up his knee. She shut us all down but the drummer kept playing for about 10 more minutes while we played acoustically. Finally, we stopped, and I gave all the pieces of the acoustic guitar to crowd members. One time at a Scissor Shock show, some random dudes got on stage with us and were wrestling and this dude picked me up and threw me down.. like, a power bomb... while I was singing... I knocked a tooth off at that show. I once went to a local show where this band had water balloons thrown at them and this lead to a bloody fist fight between two people. I dunno, too much ridiculous shit really. |

i love pissing people off at shows. our worst show was at this place called the cnaan. its a bar for israeli music and its really zionist and kinda freaky-their bar is shaped like a jewis star). anotehr band invited us, we accepted, but knew that disaster was near. the poster of the show said start time was 21:30 so like at all shows we waited another half an hour and started. about 20 minutes into the set the manager told us that we have one song left, as if we were in some talent show or something. i told himmaybe 3. after that song we started playing and he came and told us to stop. i told him that we agreed to a half hour show and we were going to play a half an hour. we argued and argued and shouted, i asked the audiance if they wanted one last song, the alll did. he said no. i told people to ask for their money back because they paid for a dellilah show and did not get one (four people got their money back). more screaming yelling, yadda yadda yadda i urinated all of their bathroom....

best one... rev horton heat getting harrassed by a biker during a song, to which the rev. slings his guitar onto his back, jumps off the stage and proceedes to waste this guy with a right hook. he gets back up onstage and asks if anyone else wants some and continues with a smile on his face.

One of my favorites was in 1986 when my friends and I were almost hit by Sonic Youth arriving in their van (Thurston was driving) in the alley behind the club (the soon defunct "Retro" in Seattle) where we were getting high.

This isn't really a crazy experience, but I'll post anyway:
Towards the end of a school day, my friends and I laid down on the grass. We listened to our iPods. I listened to Daydream Nation - it was the perfect soundtrack. We were all just lying there on our backs staring at the sky. Then I fell asleep.

man, this was a while ago, at a GG Allin show in Houston, he jumped off the stage and grabbed a frfiend of mine, Paul, and pushed him against the wall of the club (paul is a smalish vietnamese kid) and whipped out his dick and pissed all over paul, when another friend of mine grabbed GG and whirled him around and punched him hard right in the face. GG staggered and ran back on stage.
