I think they had a pretty incredible career. I didnt hear the last one (the Angel one?) but I have a lot of their albums. Their 80s-mid 90s run was pretty unstoppable.

I used to be a really big fan of this band, back in the 80s when I thought they were the only band in the world (note: I was born in 1980). There are still sparks of this glorious past remaining in my head, although my active interest in this band ended with Violator.
However, their late 80s output (Some Great Reward and Music For the Masses) is untouchable.

VIOLATOR is amazing. Songs of Faith is as well. You need: MUSIC FOR THE MASSES, BLACK CELEBRATION, SPEAK & SPELL, EXCITER... awe hell. Just get everything that isn't a live album.

I dnt have that one. But the live albums I heard were marred by weird ablibbed "whooo's" and stuff.
I hate to nitpick, but everything counts in large amounts.

I knew a stripper who would always dance to 'em. Hmm. Wonderful.
Then she started to dance to country. I blame a boyfriend.

Wrong is a really awesome tune and the video fucking blew my mind. I love their dark, elegant sound. Apart from the most SY LPs I think Violator is one of the best albums ever released. In fact Depeche mode were a major influence on most of the EBM artists or bands I listen to.

as if we didnt already have enough sub-sub-sub genres, we need to actually classify them based on which drugs go with them? C'mon.

Electronic Body Music, a subgenre of modern Industrial and Aggrotech. While most Aggrotech artists sound well "aggressive" and harsh EBM is kind of "softer". I would consider it "Advanced Synthpop". Popular EBM artists: Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Die Krupps, Assemblage 23 |
