Anybody looking forward to this? I was really excited when I first heard about it just because of the three emcees involved but I've read recently that the album was rushed a bit.

at this point I'm only excited about it as being a new Ghostface album. The last Meth album I really liked was TICAL 0 and regardless of what (seemingly) everyone thought, I was really disappointed in CUBAN LINX 2.

Meth really does not sound like he's fucking around lately...which bodes
well for the album. Swift and Changeable will come out around the same time as Detox.

Yeah, Meth does seem serious these days.
http://www.rapbasement.com/method-ma...ails-here.html The only recent thing I've heard from him are his appearences on OB4CL2 and I thought he was great. I'm pretty sure the lyrics for the album will be great, i just hope the production is good too. |

so I got this over the weekend. It's sort of anticlimatic. I mean, it's not bad by any means. It's sort of like, by the time you get to "Miranda" and yr like "woah, now THIS is the fukin' song I was WAITING for" the album just sort of ends and you look at yr watch and yr like THAT"S IT? THE ALBUMS OVER? Weird. So like I said. Not bad. Just sort of not enough I guess. Especially in this day & age of "mixtapes that sound like the album."

I don't not dig it. But it leaves me wanting more. I'm not sure it was worth $10. It feels like an EP almost. Also, I think I wanted a lot more Ghost on the thing. But that's personal preference.
I really love "Miranda" as previously mentioned. I think the new "Crimiinology" is good. Does anyone else feel like a lot of the tracks end really abruptly or just fade out really quickly though? I don't know, I find that gives it a sort of unfinished feel.

Def Jam rushed it out of them, but it's still a good album.

that's what it sounds like. And yr right. It's a good album. It had the potential to be a great album though. Here's something weird. I ripped the CD and sync'd it to my Sidekick and for some reason it freezes my Sidekick up. I have no idea why. No other mp3's do that.

I think of it more as a mixtape, and a damn good one. It's better than anything Ghsot has done since "Fishscale", but of course not nearly as good as Cuban Linx 2.

I remember watching the Wu-Tang docu that U-God put together. haha. And I saw The W, and the live DVD. And the ODB documentary. And a RZA DVD as well. Jeez... how'd I miss WU come to think of it?

1. it's the opposite of a mixtape. It's short and concise. As in all fat (even song outro's) have been stripped. Skits are minute. 2. You MIGHT be right about best thing Ghost did since Fischscale. Though I'd say MORE FISH was better than this. And I won't get into his mixtapes. 3. CUBAN LINX 2 is over-rated. I know I'm in the minority (or at least minority who will vocalize it), but it's certainly Rae's best album in years, but it's really not that extraordinary.

Still need to pick this up. Hopefully today. But yeah, looked on wiki and apparently it's only 29:58 in length. Well, as long as its got good beats and good lyrics I'm sold.
And just cuious, noisereductions, but why didn't you like OB4CL2? |

oh it's not that I didn't like it, I just was dissappointed. I guess in fairness to Rae, I would have liked the album slightly more had it been called ANY OTHER TITLE other than a sequel to CUBAN LINX. I've written very long and possibly boring rants about the ridiculous perfection of CUBAN LINX. The plot, the pacing, the production, the importance of using characters and the roles that these characters play throughout the album.
As a sequel, CL2 is just not there. It's just not even close. It's a fine album on it's own made of up of GOOD songs with GOOD lyrics and GOOD beats. But it's just NOT even close to the original and the CHINESE DEMOCRACY/DETOX waiting game that led up to it only made that more glaring. But by promising a sequel he forced me (or other listeners I'm sure) to compare the two records, and EXPECT something of the same calibur. Cuban Linx is a 5/5. This is a... um 3.5/5? Which is certainly not bad. But disappointing if you were expecting another 5/5.

I see what yr saying. I was only judging it by its great songs and forgot to take into account the things (plot, characters, etc.) that made the first one really really good instead of just good. I'll have to re-listen to it to judge it again.
