I can't say I'm a fan but I saw them live this year and they were good.

I saw a documentary that rivaled them against the Dandy Warhols. I know little of them other than that. The documentary showed them just as much a tragedy as anything. They were frequently haggled at shows as if it's the thing to do... especially their front-man. I can't say I don't understand why.... their frontman is comprised of a lethal concoction of ridiculously arrogant with a heavy mix of self destructive. I'm impressed if he hasn't off'd himself yet.
I give them props for their heavy commitment to the "tambourine" a friend in Mass. recorded a song I said I really liked... he said it was a BJTM cover.... so, I must like them. The first song on this set of recordings in a BJTM cover (you might like it): http://www.myspace.com/eatright1 If you like it, I've got a quality MP3 that's not slowed down like that one. I like the slowed down one, it kinda makes it sound like ween or something, but his reg. speed version sounds good too.

Dig! is one of my favorite 'movies'. yeah, it's a documentary, but it's really hard to tell how much of it was dramatised because they knew they were filming.
Anton insists to this day that he's "not as crazy" as that movie made him look, but I have my doubts he could fake it. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. that said, he's the last of the Real Rockstars (to me). if there was a band that I could choose to be in, that'd be the one that I'd pick. |

One out of maybe every twenty songs they record is fucking stellar, but all the rest are transparently derivative tedious dreck.
