Hi, i do not usually post on here but i have a quick question on the Sister LP. Was there ever a pre-2011 issue with a purple vinyl ? I am being told there is, but i cannot find its reference anywhere. It pretends to be a SST issue. If anyone can help ! Many thanks

I know a guy with a grey colored SST copy of EVOL. It reminds me of this one but I'm not sure if either are "official" releases. |

Something makes me think that the smoke grey EVOL and purple Sister are knockoff pressings done by SSt from after Sonic Youth left SST. But that could be totally wrong too.

for me locked groove is most important thing about evol vinyl release. I don't have a vinyl version yet, but if I will be getting one it would definitely have to be the one with locked groove, there are also pressing without it yeah?

I believe it is all the SST & Blast First eighties versions. I ordered Blast First version in 1993 and it has it. Do I remember right, but are there new vinyl versions of EVOL where is Bubblegum added after Expressway?

Purple Sister and Pink EVOL are official SST pressings. I bought my Purple Sister from a guy that worked at SST. Smoke-gray and Clear EVOL pressings are boots. Still hunting that elusive Pink EVOL!

The pink Evol & purple Sister are c1990 and there's around 500 of each. I asked Chuck Dukowski about them when he was selling a bunch of rare SST stuff a few years ago.

And aside from the pink SST & pink ORG pressings, all other coloured Evols are bootlegs. AFAIK they all purport to be on Blast First rather than SST though.

Thanks for clearing this up...now I wonder if these were done w/ the consent of SY or as a cash grab by SST. |

It's an interesting question - I suspect it was either these or the various coloured 10" Starpowers (c1991) that prompted legal action to recover their masters from SST.
