In addition to his own work, Gown talks about the Bark Haze project, e.g. what tunings they use, how they record BH record(s), what's next for them, etc
it's long, though: http://www.ithacatimesartsblog.com/i...rew-macgregor/ |

You're welcome. I should have mentioned that Gown also discusses his work on Thurston's new solo album in the interview.

Interesting read...
and damn, i've been using the DADGAD tuning for awhile now not knowing that he was using it... i wouldn't have thought he'd be using T's pavement-esque tuning on those two recordings on Important Records from listening to them, however i'd imagine his technique is much different. On a good portion of the recordings its hard to figure who is doing what and there's alot of beauty in that. Love the interaction w/ Pete Nolan who is another one of my fav. drummers on the scene along w/ Corsano... [comment retracted] btw, received the Bark Haze cassette that was recently released with the splendid Maya Miller artwork its a recording from ATP 2006 (sounds like a different mix/recording than the one floating around the net/Dime wherever else) and totally worth it. |

Well hello. And a warm thanks to those who read our interview with Gown.
There's actually quite a bit of Sonic Youth-related material on the blog (here: http://www.ithacatimesartsblog.com/ ), including photos from the Ecstatic Peace showcase in Februrary, Gladtree, No Fun End of Winter Destruction, SY live Feb 2007 in NYC, No Fun proper in May (click on the photos tab if you're interested), etc etc. We are huge admirers of SY's music and the historic community of musicians/friends they've supported for three decades ... and we have a number of interviews archived and forthcoming related to some of those folks, so ... we'd be happy to have you check back at the site. Cheers to everyone here . . . see you at McCarren Park ! |
