Juliette Lewis is also a guest.
One can assume they'll be doing something from Four On The Floor from last year, but that they won't be doing "Death of a Whore," or "Bullshit King." I kind of hope it's not "Hot Kiss." Anything else would be okay, although bands seem to rarely get the right sound at these late night talk show appearances. SNL (not a talk show, but it is a late night show) seems to invariably get the sound right though. --- Rats, they did "Hot Kiss." It sounded good though. Seems they have a video for it now and the album is finally getting a U.S. release. Their first release, Speaking My Language, from 2005 is a better album. http://www.starpulse.com/Music/Julie...97770/R740879/ |

All the songs I heard (the tv-aired singles) were kinda "meh" in my opinion, not much impressing... are the albums worth a listen (=are there "better" songs in them)?
I remember watching "Strange Days", with Juliette covering pj harvey songs, and before that that scene where she sing in prison in NBK, and thinking "uh, she's a peculiar voice, should record something", then after all theese years she actually has a band and all that, which is pretty cool, but I didn't appreciate much the "sound" she went after, I kinda hoped for something less rocking and more sick.... / end.

I like the live pro-shot concert dvd I have the most, but the first album is not too bad and some of it is rather good considering what else is out there these days.

Butttt, are the albums "generally" rock or I'm in for some nice surprises listening to the whole things? (ha ha , looks like I need an incentive to investigate further). Like, that Noisettes album isn't anything special, but a couple songs have quite nice "twists", if you understand what I mean...
"the licks" is not sick enough, adam.

Hell, I thought it might be worth checking out for a few minutes on television tonight.
You people generally like The Stooges, right? Well, their music is somewhere in-between The Stooges (without the absolute urgency) and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (without the occasionally excellent hit songwriting). If you'll scroll back at the group, nicfit, I shared the albums. This, combined with a thread at the board awhile back in which Pauly also wrote he had been listening to them, comprises the total extent of my posting about the band. |

Ok, sorry, I was just asking for an opinion, that's all, I thought that since you opened this thread you could be, well, "happily inclined" (that's not the right expression...) to further share your thoughts about them. I didn't want to be/sound annoying.
Searching the forum for "juliette" didn't help. I was not in the group back then (i joined like 8 months later) and the up expired, but I can get them in other ways, no prob.

I never wrote that they sounded just like The Stooges. Juliette obviously draws vocal, stage, and lyrical inspiration from Iggy, a good place to get it, and, as I wrote, the band's music is also akin to the poppier punk rock of a woman-fronted band like Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. It's an off-the-cuff general description. Look, I knew that starting this thread would only expose me to ridicule, yet I started it anyway. Thanks for bearing that out in true douchebag fashion. |

i don't know, it's kinda like joan jett but meh, i probably had a lot of expectations for this band but still; i don't like comparisons that are underserving.
