Toronto is pretty good; montreal is by far the best. The montreal indie scene is really diverse and the noise scene is decent as well. I bus to montreal once a month for concerts. I'd go more often if it wasn't for the price. I think Gang Gang Dance is playing a show soon, and so is Dishwasher (Keep your eyes peeled for Think About Life and Dishwasher, they're popular in the montreal scene and Martin's an awesome guy)

Yeah the prime music locations are montreal, toronto, and vancouver. Good rap scene in vancouver actually, quite a few good beatmakers. Ottawa's horrid, don't come here.
And do you mean to live in canada or to live in montreal? Montreal can get expensive if you live downtown, but if you go to the outskirts there's plenty of cheap housing. The West island (Pointe-Claire) is also a high-profit area. Theres sooo many of those identical apartments that it's nearly impossible to navigate at some parts, and those are pretty cheap. You can get them for around 400CAD a month. Ottawa's different; downtown has really cheap apartments (as low as $200CAD a month) but you wouldn't want to live there, all the hobo's hook themselves up with acid (there's a guy that goes around with a wagon full of drugs that you see occasionally) and they get pretty loud and aggressive, it would be difficult to sleep. There's cheap stuff on the quebec side in hull right close to my school. The condos go for $350/month for a 1 bedroom, and they're amazingly nice.

that's fun! I plan to move to montreal in 2 years so I can be more active in the music scene. Ottawa's music scene is pretty much run by a single person named Shawn Scallen. He runs the Punk/Hardcore scene, which is really the only scene we have. He puts on most of the concerts and runs www.punkottawa.com, as well as the most popular indie music store/venue. So we usually get a pretty bias scene and everythings based off of bad metal and decent punk.

I can't tell you anything that hasn't already been said about the music scenes there, but I will say this; Canadian people are really, incredibly nice.

I agree, the only shows here are put on for scene kids. The only good show I've heard is coming up is A Global Threat and I've already seen them so I don't think I'll go again.

I don't like Shawn Scallen. He's all about the money.

The city of Toronto is campaigning with posters and a Web page to urge citizens to vote a 1-cent set-aside tax for municipal services, but in October received a bill from Canada's mint for about $47,000 in licensing fees. The mint cited the posters' use of a photograph of a penny and the campaign's use of the phrase "one cent" (as in the Web site address www.OneCentNow.ca), which a spokesman said are "registered trademarks of the Royal Canadian Mint." How come? Vancouver was an awesome place to live. There was scene there but it wasn't brilliant. It felt more happening whilst Montreal. I have to go back there to live.

Do you find? I don't know him well enough to make a judgement really. I DO know that he wants a step in everything. He did soundboard, took band pictures, then opened a label, website, ticket/ concert company, and then got together with the owner of Record Runner, and now has his own record shop.
