i'm sure that some or most of you have heard silver sessions and therefore, some of you have probably read the sleave knotes. i'm not sure if this is an appropriate question or not, but is there any more information on Jason Knuth? i mean, in the notes, i think it's Kim that says he used to be called by his friends, "Sonic Knuth" and that his music was really influenced by SY. so, does he have any releases or anything? did he put anything out? or is there some small mp3 clip of something he may have done? on youtube maybe i'll search for it, but i wanted to start a discussion about the relation here. maybe more appropriate in "non-sonic sounds", but whatever...
love always, s. |

i really liked the silver sessions and looked to see if i could find anything about knuth, but to no avail. thought it was nice they did that though. the entire concept of the silver sessions is interesting/hilarious in my opinion. it's really kool how you can change the pitch & "texture" of sound by just walking around a room while a guitar is leaned up against an amp feedbacking (i do this because i don't know how to play the guitar at all).

seriously i have to say silver sessions changed many things in my life in general. first it changed my overview of SY by the time i heard it for the first time (thanks to Rob Instigator who shipped me the CD, which was absolutely unavailable in Bulgaria back then), second it was a blast for me and i kept listening to it only for more than three months straight, and then mostly for the rest of the year. i think some people were really afraid for me when they entered my place hearing all that noise blast again and again, same for months. i have to say i heard unbelievable things in that record. by the time i started hearing voices i stopped listening to it for a week.
after that i made a DJing set @ a dark wave party here in Sofia under the name 'Superfuzz' mixing spoken word recordings with silver sessions against my bass (heavily amped thru three amps and univox superfuzz-pi big muff both set to 10) feedback. no need to tell all the fancy 'gothic' and 'alternative' people grabbed their ears. the police came 30 minutes later, during 'silver panties'. this was my last DJing set @ that club and i got arrested (w/my bass). oh boy do i love that record!

shentov,
that's a great story. loved it. this album also changed my perception of SY to a degree. i didn't think that they would put something like this out or something like that. i listened to it front to back when i brought it home that night. my friend and i. s. |

Sounds a bit like the lines on the Goo cover. Anyway, that's great =P The Silver Session is really a masterpiece, though most of the people I know don't think like that |

The Silver Sessions... I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that this is truly unique and beautiful music. Play it loud and it rocks harder than almost anything, play it soft and fall asleep to it. It's an especially telling gesture that they dedicated this, their as-of-then most unconventional work recorded under the official SY moniker, to a true-blue fan. It was as is to say, "If you know us and appreciate our stuff, then you'll understand what this is all about."
