It went well. They said that they still loved me, blah blah blah...
But they were very confused about the whole thing. When I said "that I tried not to be gay" (or something like that) my dad said "You tried not to be flamboyant?" My mom thought I was too young to know. And I guess I have to agree with her to some extent. I am always questioning myself because I haven't fully accepted it yet. I think telling my parents is a step in the right direction of acceptance though. How am I supposed to accpet it if I have the dread of coming out of the closet on my mind? It went well, but it was awkward. I know my mom is more or less dissappointed, but she is a good enough of a mother to tell me that she still loved me, and all that jazz. |

Hey, that's cool. Most parents will think that any deviation from the norm by their chld is just an aberration, but what marks out their worth is whether they allow the child the space to find for themselves whether that is the case, or try to force the norm upon them with threats. Your parents are a bit unsure of how to respond, but they've not judged you. Good on 'em.

Hey man well done. Jesus, I'm only 6 months younger than you. I never got why parents couldn't accept it.

Bravo Alex.
It's a good thing you said it cause the longer you wait the harder it would have been to tell them.

You should buy a T-shirt that says:"Proud to be GAY!"

'I'm sort of unsure about it but I guess I should tell you I'm not entirely excited that I'm GAY!' won't fit on a t-shirt.
But yes, Bravo! I have two gay uncles and from what they've told me (one of them, anyway), coming out is really scary. I think it should be all smooth-ish sailing from hereon, though. :] |
