Faith: That which allows us to believe things which we know to be untrue.

So are you saying that if you have faith a friend will pick you up when you need a ride, you actually know that he won't? Be anti-god all you want, it doesn't really matter to me how you feel, but think before you talk

that is not (capital-letter) FAITH. hoping your friend will come get you if you need a ride is not faith at all. that is just hope. Faith/Belief exists purely and solely as trust in something without proof, and without ever expecting proof. that is spiritual/religious FAITH.

a tax dodge to protect a pyramid scheme and feed the creators thirst for power isn't a faith

a dog that runs into a wall because it was running with it's eyes closed isn't a faith.

funny, because a friend and I were messaging comedy links to each other yesterday and he included these with Tom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48_twUMgDkg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU4p5...eature=related and from metafilter yesterday: "From somewhere around 110,000 trillion trillion years ago" Scientology, a very litigious and secretive group had their website hacked recently and some documents have made it on to the web. The /i/nsurgency haxorz (a splinter group of the famous Anon folks) are claiming responsibility. This is part of an ongoing war of sorts. Also, a helpful Scientology acronym guide of sorts. |

Atheism takes faith too. If you think it is silly to believe in something without much proof for it, you might as well be an agnostic.
If you don't have faith in anything, you'd have a pretty awful life. |
