Its on The Thing's "Action Jazz" album on Smalltown Superjazz... pretty cool cover of "Ride the Skies"... Mats is great.

great "free jazz" band but i don't think they are necessarily free jazz because they do reinterpretations or covers of "rock" songs (ie the yeah yeah yeahs and lightning bolt)... so i guess the descriptive "action jazz" is pretty fitting.

Did they do the electric verion of Coltrane's The Ascension or was that someone else? I know it was released through atatvistic.

I heard them do this live in Stirling when they played Le Weekend with Zu. It was an OK show. I found Zu's nu-metal bassist somewhat irksome, however.

been meaning to check this album out! i love the live album they did with cato salsa exp and joe mcphee also on smalltown. sick version of the sonic's 'the witch'!
