I'm living in a small town (pop. 8,000) for the first time in my life, and I'm quite enjoying it. I thought it might be difficult to make friends at first, but on the contrary I found it much easier than in the big cities I've lived. Every weirdo drop out artist type hangs out at the same place, everybody knows everybody, it's nice. Slightly inconvenient perhaps, but I like it.

it really depends on the people in the city not the city itself..... i love tokyo it is an awesome awesome city and the people there are wonderful, contrary to that i kinda actually really despised london, although the people i met there were lovely the city itself is a filthy fucking stink hole dirty grimey grey and pungent. paris is lovely but the people are snooty, berlin the people are lovely the city itself is grey and cold and mostly ugly except for alot of the newer architecture springing up around the place.
population really doesn't mean much to me but it is much easier to be anonymous in are large city even if it is only 1000000 or so people like my home city. |

I hear ya. Though my situation's slightly different. I went from living in a lovely, cosmopolitan college town to an ugly, narrow small town. It's hell. College towns are much like big cities, with all the benefits and few of the disadvantages.
