so now many people own rather ripped, how would you rate it on a scale of 1(bad) to 10 (good)?
me, i'm not very impressed. there's some nice melodies, but it's all a bit predictable and i would have liked something more challenging. don't see myself listening to this a lot in the future. i'd give it a 4/10 |

Fuckin brilliant album, loving more on each listen. The last two albums have been absolutly brilliant. A return back to form I think.

I said 7 but I would go with 7.5. I really like some of the stuff but overall it just doesn't do it for me. But hey, sy could have broken up and we would've never had another album so I'm happy they're still going strong (or semi-strong, whatever).

It's a good album. I wouldn't say it is as good as A Thousand Leaves, Murry Street or Sonic Nurse, but it's still a pretty decent album.

Pink Steam makes it at least a 5. Rats & Reena add at least 2. The rest make up the other point. (Again, I voted 8)
Incinerate is a great song, but the album version is so tame compared to live performances.

I give it an 8, just because it's going in a different direction than they had taken previously with A Thousand Leaves, and they actually managed to make it a decent album that would have been revered and hailed, if only it hadn't been released by Sonic Youth.

Average mark so far is 6.4..... Does this count as maths revision for my exam tomorrow?
I think it deserves a little higher than that for the ending of 'Pink Steam' and 'Or' alone. I gave it a 9. It was more of an 8 to be honest but I was feeling generous.

Unfortunately, the inclusion of 'Sleepin' Around', 'What A Waste', and 'Lights Out' drag it down to a 6.5 IMO. Dropping those three tunes and including 'Helen Lundeberg' and 'Eyeliner' on the U.S. domestic release would have yielded something close to an 8. Again, IMO...

I say 8. I'm listening to it for the second time right now. Reminds me of Experimental Jet Set, but with better songs. At the moment I think it's not as good as Nurse, but I just know the songs are going to lodge themselves in my head even more after a few more listens.

In comparison to everything else I gave it a 7. I like it a lot more now after listening to it a bunch of times.

I just bought it at the record store, though I'd heard it before. The bonus tracks are great.
It's great, but not as good as other releases. 8. |
