I think that whereas the graphic novel sort of widened the audience for super-hero comics, judging by that trailer, the film is being aimed at the very same people who flocked to watch adaptations of stuff like X-Men, Spiderman, etc. It's unfair to judge a film by its trailer, but it does seem to look like a lot of what's already out there and definitely seems unlikely to appeal to an audience not already committed to the genre. Saying that, I'm not sure how you could adapt something like Watchmen to the screen without succumbing to that kind of ghettoisation.

Definitely looks less literary and more action-packed.
I'm sure the movie will rock, though.

the people who make th trailers are almost never the same people who make the movie, which SUCKS, because the people maing the trailers are trying to create an artificial "story arc" and ussually end up showing crucial details of the movie's actual "story arc" in such a way that, if you are clever or well-versed in movies, you can decode exactly what will happen in the film.
I think that the trailer does a decent job of NOT giving up too much, although, if you read the comic, you can pick out exactly what parts are being shown. the X men went for looks, an dthat third one sucked so much major ass. this movie is being done by the guy who did 300 and who is a huge fan of the watchmen and comics in general. the guys who did x men were just action movie makers.

A good point raised. Let's hope it leans toward the new Batman films and NOT Daredevil. |

I have yet to watch daredevil. I waited until a boring saturday afternoon to watch the movi where Ben Who-fleck and Bruce Willis fight asteroids, armaggedon, and it was not even worth that!
I have waited to see some of daredevil on TV, but no one airs it cuz it sucks so much! ha ha ha

I'm being serious here: that I have personally seen, it is the WORST comic-adaptation yet. But, I didn't see Spiderman 3, so..... |
