traditionally, I remember stores starting to play holiday music the day after Thanksgiving. But I've already heard it in stores last weekend. And even a couple radiostations have started playing it too.

For those of you that do listen to holiday music during the season (I do), when do you start? I havent started yet, so just wondering.

And of course-- what are some favorite holiday records?

Well, first off: We better get used to hear holiday music earlier. The holiday themed industries try to cash in as soon as possible.

Well, I usually don't listen to holiday music very often. My tracklist last Christmas mostly consisted of Sonic Youth and The Prodigy ^^. However, there are a few holiday themed songs I like. Among them are "Merry Christmas" by the Ramones and of course "The night Santa went crazy" by Weird Al Yankovic. Nuff said!

I'm brimming with anger at the thought of hearing Slade EVERY TEN FUCKING MINUTES FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS. Mcartney must die, again.

It's weird. Everyone hates it, and yet the shops still play it. It's not even as though anyone buys xmas compilations anymore. It's the massive 'best of's that save the record industry each christmas, not yet another repackaging of 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus'. Saying that, the idea that people are getting excited over a Stereophonics Greatest Hits album is perhaps even more depressing.

I don't know ANY Stereophonics songs by name but three sounds about fair. Someone at my work cites them as his favourite band. He buys car magazines too and refers to breasts as bristols, despite being in his early twenties. Every morning I hope his girlfriend will ring in to tell us he's died in his sleep.

I have one of their very early singles on 7". They have a handful of pretty good singles, but you'd never believe it from their current output. That chap you work with sounds like a dickbag, let's e-kill him.

I buy a handful of new holiday albums every year. shrug.

My favorite finds last year were probably Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra xmas album, and Peanut Butter Wolf's BADD SANTA mix CD. Some amazing shiz on there.

Low's is good, yes. I actually like the Bright Eyes one. And I have a pretty cool one by Mark Mothersbaugh. And I'm a sucker for Vince Giraldi.

Because by "Holidays" I meant to include Haunuka (or however you spell it) and any other holiday that any other religion might celebrate around the same season that Christians celebrate Christmas. I didnt wanna leave anyone out.

Most of them probably couldn't spell Christmas.

"Xmas" was invented to make it easier for our dumb American cousins.

WORD.

Also: George Michael is releasing an Xmas song this year, called "The December Song (Christmas On My Mind)". Will it features the sounds of Mr Michael off his tits and slumped inside his car, or him being bummed into madness on Hampstead Heath? I sure do hope so.

PS. Wham's "Last Christmas" is HORRIBLE.

There's a bit towards the end of that song, when Michael emphasises the words 'gave' in the final chorus, that sounds completely amazing. It's one of those instances for me that separates the pop genius from the mere pop also ran.
