As someone who likes the US a lot, and has travelled there a number of times, even I'm beginning to wonder whether I can really be bothered 'applying' to visit a country I only want to spend rather than make money in. Enforcing security is one thing but this new measure just sounds a bit paranoid to me.

That's funny actually. One time I was travelling to the US I had the soles of my shoes checked at Heathrow. I can't remember the full reasons but think it had something to do with whether I'd recently stepped on a copy of 'Among the Living'.

well of course if you're not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to fear. You should welcome the opportunity of faceless bureaucrats to examine your personal life. As a US citizen, I'll just say on berhalf of EVERYONE In the USA if you won't bend over and spread it for the faceless bureaucrats who are KEEPING US SAFE then don't come here. We don't want your tourist dollars. We'd rather be isolated and poor and backwards but SAFE/

But Americans love the English. The girls at your supermarket checkouts want us to say stuff and then giggle, and then invite us to parties we can never find.

I've never been to America and this actually puts me off. I can barely work out how to book a flight or fill out a form for the doctors let alone something as complex as this.

What the fuck do you think this is.
I'm not saying we're innocent of anything, infact the idea that you should feel loyalty to a country you were born in but had no control of is the definition of sheep (at least blind loyalty). HOWEVER. Why does everyone act like we are NOT the country with the most enemies. Obviously a large amount of people (not governments) but people, want the citizens of the US dead. For many reasons. You think they will fly or travel right out of their fucking country to get here? There are sleepers everywhere and the people in control are finally wising up to that fact, or at least finally have the balls to not care what ordinary people think of it. If you are ordinary you should have nothing to worry about right? fucking GPS and Google Street view are the things that should piss you off and make you worried... not smart shit that actually makes sense, like this. |

"sleepers everywhere" makes you sound a bit paranoid. I'm just saying it puts me off as a pain in the arse. What I wonder is after we don't have this problem of terrorism anymore, will they remove all the security measures that they have put in place because of it. Britain had ID cards during the war but that was probable necessary, after the war no one wanted them and they got rid of them. Now politicians want to bring them back and I' worry that they will and the people won't have the strength or the inclination to fight this (as well as other things). |

Well I don't mean to sound paranoid! But I'm just saying. The world is bitching that we are too offensive and need to get the fuck out of other peoples countries but they also get pissed if we decide to play defense and make our borders tighter. It's all backwards and ridiculous. Just trying to be more of a devils advocate here. I think there will always be terrorist activity, and by that I mean I believe we will always exploit stupid shit to convince the public it all makes sense and make them feel threatened.
So I ignore the second part of your response because it is now null and void. |

Nothing lasts forever. Terrorism will take a break and America won't always be.

The hate of people in power lasts forever, the desire to gain power lasts forever. That's why people are building nuclear weapons.
Unfortunately we don't have much power to steal anymore so maybe the US hate will die down and terrorists will start getting pissed at China or something. |
