As gamers and skaters alike are getting increasingly excited about the imminent release of Tony Hawk’s Project 8, Activision has just sent SPOnG further details on the game’s cracking soundtrack.

The stellar mix of artists includes such audio-luminaries as: Toots & the Maytals, Sonic Youth, Kasabian, Ministry, Gnarls Barkley, Nine Inch Nails, Bad Religion, Kool and the Gang, Primus and The Ramones.

The TH series has always been known for delivering on the soundtrack front and the latest title certainly does that. THP8 also includes an exclusive track from Plus-44, (featuring Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of Blink 182). The track, called "Lycanthrope", comes from the band’s forthcoming LP, "When Your Heart Stops Beating", which releases on 14th November - one week after THP8 releases for Xbox, 360, PS3, PS2 and the PSP on November 7th.

“The Tony Hawk’s Project 8 soundtrack features an eclectic collection of original and licensed music from punk rock and hip hop to metal”, says Tim Riley, worldwide executive of music at Activision. “The music captures the rebellious, off-beat, high energy vibe exemplified in skate culture and in the video game,” he continues in classically music executive ‘stylee’.

For all the latest on THP8 you can head over to SPOnG’s detailed preview and also check out the latest on our dedicated THP8 page.

That's cool. I like how Sonic Youth is becoming more comercially available. In terms of products.
