I'm going to the USA soon and was wondering where I can go and see bands play in those cities. Thanks!

In D.C., the 9:30 Club often has great stuff. It's a famous D.C. dive. I went last year to see Teenage Fan Club and The Vaselines. Great venue. The GF made me carry an empty beer bottle under my jacket on the way back to the hotel, though, in case we had to ward off any baddies.

DC: 9:30 Club, Black Cat, Rock n Roll Hotel.
Say hi while you're in the neighborhood, if you are so inclined.

Come to Asheville and go to the Orange Peel. Always something interesting there. Saw Cowboy Junkies, Lucinda Williams, and Dandy Warhols there.

Do you get the feeling we're at a low point in underground culture? Maybe it is appropriate, as the Situationists would say, the only viable entertainment now is revolution. |

Decayed Rhapsody is probably your man, as far as NYC is concerned.

If you come to Philly google "R5 Productions" and that gives a calender of quite a few cool venues.
The City Paper will give a guide to bigger more mainstream stuff if you are into that. |
