"Its not like I can pick up an acoustic guitar and jam with Richard Thompson or something.."
After listening to the way Sonic Youth music has become increasing structured, almost traditional over the past 6 albums, I'd dare to say that Thurston probably could! I bet Sonic Youth could even pull of an Unplugged set if they focused on acoustic friendly material from ATL, Sonic Nurse, Murray Street, and to a lesser extent Day Dream Nation

i thought the chance of a sy accoustic album was pretty high when they did starpower on that US soap (gossip girl?), but then when demolished thoughts came out i thought that was probably gonna get it out of T's system.
and then when they split i thought "oh well, there goes that one then" shame cause i think it would be really interesting to hear some of their old songs accoustic, and new ones too |

CM Finally, you recently had the Jazzmaster guitar that was stolen in 1999 in California recovered. Have you physically received it? If so, what was the sensation like of playing it?
TM I have not. I'm sure it will need some tender kisses. As soon as I touch it again I will hold it to my breast and ask what it wants to do.
...The best part of the interview, it makes some sense and not any sense... all at once.

Thurston does sound extremely 'past-tense' about SY in that interview. Not surprising I know, but.. *sigh*

I thought Lee sounded the same way in some recent interviews...but now we have 4 bands instead of 1 to enjoy! |
