While watching Sinister (an ok film, I guess) with my beloved boy toy last night, I fell asleep 3/4 of the way through! Only to wake up three hours later to finish it, which interrupted the movie's flow. The BF was bummed. we have a tradition of watching unsettling and or horrific films together, and I think I'm taking the fun out of it. I have never been easily scared, but I had high hopes for Sinister.
I would appreciate some recommendations for recent (last year or so up to now) horror flicks that might gimme the willies, and help save my dying relationship I know this is kind of a lame request, but I have, like, no time for fun stuff, and watching movies is about the most exciting thing I can fit into my life, entertainment wise. So I am really looking for the most disturbing, creative, freaky, non-kitsch horror films of the highest quality. Thanks!!! |

I'm pretty out of touch with recently released horror since I suspended my netflix subscription earlier this year. I wouldn't bother with American horror for the most part. They aren't making the scary stuff. They might make fun stuff but not scary. French horror seems to be the best currently. I've heard good things about "Livid" but I haven't seen it. I've never seen "Martyrs" which came out a few years ago but its got a reputation for being pretty disturbing, and for a movie that's supposed to be GREAT, maybe even the best horror film of 2012 I keep hearing its "Kill List".

the most disturbing thing i've ever seen this one is going to haunt you for days after you watch it and good luck finding an uncut version which is even more disturbing this movie isn't really a horror movie but it will leave you feeling disturbed and creeped the fuck out and sorry, it's not in english (at least i haven't seen it in english yet) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1273235/ |

why, fuck, just watch some documentaries
"rape in the congo" would be a great start for a night full of thrills. who needs CGI maggots when real live tales told by screaming women and corpse photographs will make you as ill as you want. |

read this book. The nightmares will become overwhelming and you will reinvigorate your senses of foreboding and dread.

No, I could benefit from this as well. Give her some entertaining horror fantasy to watch. I think she gets enough of real life horror in her job to permanently fuck most people up. So I say give her some "never-gonna-happen" horror that she can distract herself with.
