Yeah I caught it. First time I've ever seen it. So this is what inspired Wes Anderson.
I could have done without the S&G songs every 10 or so minutes + I was disappointed with how uninteresting Mrs. Robinson's daughter is and that Mrs. Robinson wasn't given very much to do afterwards + Maybe the most memorable thing about the movie is the director's use of space |

Well, the movie is all from Ben's point of view, so once the affair ends and he goes up to Berkeley, you just naturally don't see her anymore. The movie is also edited so that you don't really see much of the conversation in his date with Elaine. The main thing about her is that he loves he because she isn't filled with bullshit like everyone he knows. You don't really get to see much of the date, and I think it is purposeful, to make he viewer question why Ben goes up to Berkeley to marry a girl that he barely knows.

Makes sense. But I was beginning to really sympathize with her; the scene where he tells her daughter about their affair was sad. Quote:
Elaine's definitely cute. So what you're saying is that it doesn't matter what we think about his supposed object of affection. This is the problem I've had with the Spider-Man movies: what is it about Mary Jane that's got this dude so sprung? And what is it about Kate Winslet's character in Eternal Sunshine that's so endearing? |

what struck me was the famous scene at the end, on the bus, where it looks like both of their minds are running around 100 miles per hour trying to figure out if what they have just done is RIGHT.

Spectral questioned whether the dude even loved her - a good question, I think. There certainly weren't enough scenes between them to justify how much they "loved" each other. He seemed to have made the decision out of nowhere (the scene where he tells his parents that he's gonna marry her, despite the fact that she doesn't even really like him, was funny). |

they grew up together. peter parker has always loved her, since she was a kid. when he was 8 they used to bathe together and she would let him tickle her brown button while he let her nibble on his little sac o goodies plus she is a tredhead, and no man I know can resist a redhead, even if they are crazy kate winslet's character was just insane. I do not know about you buyt I am severely attrracted to beautiful damaged women with mental issues. nothing gets me hotter. sonic life.

exactly! it's quite revealing of one's nature to make such a confession, but i am guilty of the same. why do i have to ask for trouble every time? why? because-- i couldn't do otherwise. |

it has been my experience that women in general, at least from a man's point of view, are all "crazy" but the ones that are normal "woman crazy" are just boring. I like the overachievers, the real nutsos, the ones that could destroy a small peninsula or rule an island nation with a iron fist or wreack havoc through a lifetime of men not ready for the psychic damage inflicted.

eh, that"crazy" which you discuss in the first part of your post is just the misogynous male expression for "someone who is capable of having and expressing emotions". that's not real crazyness. i like the crazies that are very smart & highly neurotic with strong creative urges & the erotic tendencies of a deviant. let me put it this way: once i was taking refuge in a friend's apartment from the outbursts of a fiery (in every way) girlfriend. when i told my friendwhat had been going on, he looked at me seriously and said "man, she's crazy!" he meant it like someone who needs treatment (which was true, she did). i said "of course!". then he asks "why can't you just find... a simple woman?" i thought of every peasant and shopkeeper in the world and laughed because, ha ha, i can't stand "simple" women. i love them complicated, difficult, interesting, unpredictable, and capable of rewarding my efforts with a transdimensional erotic payoff. |
