Houston Police Chief hits a pedestrian in downtown. If any regular citizen was caught on camera hitting a pedestrian, who had the right of way, with their vehicle in this manner, would they receive a 1-day suspension and defensive driving? If I was this pedestrian I would sue the HELL out of this "Chief" and take ALL THE MONEY. Double standard for the cops. Oink Oink

In NYC, if you want to kill someone and get a free ride, hit a pedestrian or bicyclist, nothing ever seems to happen. How did he not even see the pedestrian? Watch the chucklehead with the backpack, he just strolls on, looks like he takes out a camera or something. The camera angle is a bit tough but I don't think the Chief had his blinker on. Don't know about Tex-ass laws but in NY the pedestrain always has right of way, especially as he was walking straight and already in the road.
disturbing. |

Meh. Traffic accidents are the least perks that police and police chiefs receive. They can kill people on purpose and get away with it as much as hurting or even killing people on accident. Of course where these police related traffic accidents usually occur is in officer pursuits which is also why in LA they have finally changed policy, they don't pursue unless its serious. On the news this morning in LA a pregnant woman and her husband were hit in the crosswalk last night, seriously injured, she lost the baby, no charges filed because it was an honest accident. Generally speaking, in injury accidents with pedestrians as long as you stop and you're not drunk there isn't usually an arrest, so this isn't as out of the ordinary as it seems by the way.

Believe it or not, LA is perhaps the most polite, civil, and genuinely nice city in the country. People actually say hello to each other and exchange niceties with sincerity. I know, its hard to believe, but TMZ does NOT reflect actual life in Los Angeles. At the corner store, at the coffee shop, at your job, at the mall, hiking in the hills, strolling the beach, generally people in LA are quite nice. We also drive CONSIDERABLY better than anywhere else in the world, and I am well traveled enough to have seen this first hand By the way, I should clarify the pregnant woman accident this morning was not police related, just an example of a fatality related traffic accident with pedestrians that resulted in no charges filed.
