It's great Sonic Youth acknowledged Eric Emerson. A pretty out there, fucked up individual, and the song makes more sense to me knowing he crushed to the floor tripping on acid and listening to Mozart. Warhol said he was the sort of guy who gets rejected from all auditions in town but the one thing he did was better than everyone else. He also sued the Velvet Underground for using an image of himself on the back of the first album's lp sleeve. My favourite story is Warhol filming him rollerskating around NYC on a bleeding foot. I'd love to see that footage.

The guy AW mentioned when talking about his auditions was Freddy Herko, not Eric Emerson.
