My wife and I have very similar tastes. That particular room I did, but we had both talked about the way we would do it. The furniture was collected over quite a long period.

i like the dark woodwork
mine's all white, unfortunately the walls are all white too because i didn't feel like painting but i don't know how you would really describe what kind of things i like. but i like lava lamps and my kitchen table is a sparkly lemon and i have all kinds of old dolls all over the place and weird patchwork quilts and knitted blankets from the 70s i have a lot of stuff from the 60s and 70s actually but i also like really really old ornate antique things, like stuff like this: and this:

Flock wallpaper? Wow, very 1970's, but I can serioulsy dig that.
I used to have loads of music and trash film posters up at Melly Towers, but all I have at the moment is some framed vintage comics that Dad Melly very kindly gave to me a few years back (from his own collection). Demonrail fell in love with them...me and Demonrail used to trade film posters back in the day - I still have a massive "Lost Highway" poster somewhere from him, and he has an "Ilsa, She Wolf Of the SS" poster from me....I STILL want an original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" poster - they are so amazing.

I want one dammit! Cardboard cutouts are so often better than the real thing I reckon, I mean, everyone wants a life-size cardboard cutout of Gandalf, but to have Ian McKellen in your room telling you how simply wonderful Judy Dench is in person is another matter... |

It's even bteer than cardboard too; it's like that "hardboard/fiberboard" stuff that perforated display walls are made out of.
I could have gotten the life-size cutout of Prince on his motorcycle from Purple Rain too, but that's not my style. |
