Apparently it’s all set, with a release date and poster and everything. It will be somewhat “loosely-based” on DQ, but hopefully not quite as loose as his Brothers Grimm film (which I actually really enjoyed!) |

He loves puppets too. Ever seen the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus? Some great puppet shit in that one. Too bad Mr. Ledger died midway into filming, as I think the movie would have been better with his character just being played by him (no offense to Jude Law, Colin Farrell or Johnny Depp). |

i saw parnassus but remember little of it unfortunately. just some visuals—some sort of circus. why is this? i don’t know.
my mind is however forever branded by brazil, which i have seen only about 5,377 times to this day. man i can’t believe i remember the other one so vaguely. something about a disappearing act, a traveling circus, somebody trying to look behind some curtain... lololol. damn! |

Hate when that happens. It worse when you have someone say "oh, have you seen such-and-such a film" you say "yeah, I have" cos you know you have, but then they start to talk about scenes in the film you don't remember AT ALL. So all that does is make it look like you were lying.

Actually I forget a lot about it too. Tom Waits played the devil though. And yes, there was certainly a curtain, behind which some folks did step. Also it had pre-Spider-Man Andrew Garfield. Maybe time for a rewatch. |

Brazil is iconic indeed.
I just watched the documentary about Jim Carrey playing Andy Kaufman on Netflix. Not bad, but Jim Carry is fucking bonkers. |

It made me like Kaufman more and Carry less. I thought his whole spiel at The end was borderline patronizing. And while i sort of agree with him about “disappearing” it’s very easy for someone to say that who basically has no financial worries. Still love Kaufman though. |

Agreed. The whole situation with the death of his ex- girlfriend stinks so that makes me like him even less. The bit where he was saying "I decided I didn't wanna do anything I didn't have to" was bullshit. It's easy for him to say when he's tens of millions of dollars in his bank account. Plus the whole thing where he constantly kept being a dick to Jerry Lawler was just stupid. To the point where Jerry Lawler had to take him aside to say that Kaufman was never like that off camera. Try-hard method acting in my eyes.

the other day (or week or something) i watched the new ghostbusters, with the women.
i don’t understand what is the problem people have with it and i liked it more than the original. sure the original was some sort of cultural/merchandising phenomenon but i didn’t like that movie in the first place. this reboot wasn’t that great either but on the one hand the visuals were way more spectacular so it wins on the basis on that alone. and then there’s kate mckinnon who in this role was funnier than any other cast member in either movie in their roles. she looked and acted more or less like an insane, manic, ultraintelligent chicken. which was great. yeah there were some dead moments in this movie and a lot of plot points were just about paying homage to the original— like all of the old fart cameos which were nice—and telling the backstory. but the original never did anything for me, so while i’m not gonna rewatch either one, overall this one wins by points—for me, anyway. |

Yeah i felt bad for Lawler. Poor guy had to keep being so professional the whole time. Also the fact that Carey started fucking with the great Milos Forman. |

Carrey sent Forman over the edge I think. In one scene, Carrey describes a conversation he had with “Andy” on the phone about how tough it was to work with someone like “Jim Carrey” (or whatever), and Carrey kept playing the part, and said “I’ll pass it onto Jim” or some shit, and Milos said, “I just want to talk to Jim.” Jesus. Feels like a power play. Not anything else. Jim Carrey is not Daniel Day Lewis, and even Daniel Day Lewis is a douchebag method acting fucjwad (but a goddamn good one). Anyway... Jim Carrey wanted to bring the world to his knees. It was all about anger and power, as far as I’m concerned. You don’t seek to humiliate Milos Forman. |

Those darn SJWs. Yep. People getting angry on the internet because they’re bored/want attention/think it’s the good liberal thing to do are what’s REALLY wrong with this country and everything in it. SJW is an Alex Jones/Billy Gorman/crazy person wet dream term. It pisses me off whenever anyone uses it. Goddammit we are silly. |

Never seen the new Ghostbusters, but NO WAY is it better than the originals (yes originals, plural, because Ghostbusters II was f****ng awesome).

as for your question, for me it’s like saying: did you like baby food when you were a baby? (we need more baby food restaurants) Quote:
the old ones were fucking garbage. the new one is garbage too but it looks better and has the crazy chicken lady who makes me laugh. the only think i can remember about the old ones is the music cuz the movies were so dull. the music is like the cyst of a brain parasite that refuses to die. it’s “good”in that sense. ok no, the premise that the former heroes are now doing childrens parties is great and funny and correct. i did enjoy that. but after that it’s just more nonsense. |

The reboot is a misguided, muddle-headed catastrophe. Just a marathon of plot-holes, poor CGI and ad-lib babble. They tried to turn a razor-sharp horror-comedy into fucking Bridesmaids. Why?!?
