Listening to this i'm shifting between sappiness-grossout, and psych-folk love. It's very obvious who produced this album. And i NEED to know whos playing bass. It's brilliantly played.

ach; i must have heard a terrible premix edit at that time cuz i just listened to to this twice and the arrangements are well mixed and very pertinent to my ears now. I take it all back. Very nice LP indeed. Well done Thursty. Will prob buy this on sexxy waxxxy. |

I think that The trees outside the academy is better and more spooky in a good way. At least this was my impression when I first heard that record during Halloween. And now this album.well I just don't know. Probably I should get a life or give this record a proper listen.

Trees outside the academy does sound like the season of autumn.

I doubt that it would sound right in Japanese. Even if the translation is perfect, Thurston's accent would ruin it.

Yawn. This album is tremendously boring.
Give us something new, we've heard this all before. |

i agree. i'm a huge thurston solo fan but i was disappointed by this. just let j mascis release his acoustic album and do something different. with nels cline on lee's album, i can already tell it'll be better.. hopefully |

Just came home and found my pre-ordered, blue vinyl edition of Demolished Thoughts sitting in front of my door! Will be playing it presently...

Didn't read much of the thread. But I think the album is gorgeous. Very pleasant, and I know a lot of the Sonic Youth lot aren't very acceptable to that style of music, you know... mellow, introspective. I see that some are, and I think they'll appreciate it, but I totally understand if someone just doesn't dig it. Personally, I love all the interplay intricacies in all the songs... just pleasing to listen to a master work his craft.

I've only had one listen. it's OK. Not bad really....some songs are boring, but there are a few nice tunes. Benediction though is a poor track imo.
