Air
My Michael Jordan fandom is piqued and I will forgive any and all faults in the movie.

watched MARNIE
weird film. chicks all fucked up. Trauma and ptsd and triggers everywhere. Internal terror, not birds, or monsters. watched 007 THUNDERBALL, the most violent and least silly of the Bond flicks.

it has high ratings on imdb, and got several award wins and nominations as well. But it left me a bit underwhelmed. very stupid, but enjoyable at the same time. I had forgotten that this actually happened. They made a good movie out of it. But I don't like seeing planes crash into buildings anymore ....

I think I've seen that one once and was bored out of my wits. Is Ewan McGregor's character taking a car-carrying ferry at some point in the movie? For some reason I still have a vague memory of that scenario and lots of muted colors, but can't remember anything else. |

Last night I watched one of the older Transformers movies, too lazy to look up which one. It's the one with the robots shooting at each other. Those stories are so lame if you think about it. US army is bombing the pyramids in Egypt and nobody is complaining about it.

Been on a violent movie kick with the wife.
watched OG Terminator, and then Terminator 2. OG Term is perfect. Terminator 2 used to annoy me cuz of furlong and his voice, but then I read his voice chnaged from day one filming so they had to pitch correct his voice. makes sense. watched Blood Simple. Had not seen it since college. EXCELLENT movie. beautiful and violent and strange. I watched LOTR fellowship extended cut again. 4 hours.

I really liked it. I feel like this is one of those instances where the acting can make or break the storytelling aspect. It's thanks to Giamatti (snubbed hard) and Thomas Haden Church's great performances that those characters don't just come across as massive assholes, but have a few human touches here and there. It's tough to be invested in a plot involving a self-absorbed snob and a perpetual wife-cheating horndog if they don't exude something humane and likeable too. And the two managed to tread that fine line. Hell, Giamatti even managed to make me really feel sorry for the guy and somewhat root for him by the end. I'm repeating myself, but he was done so dirty by the Academy. Virginia Madsen was great too. I was actually surprised by just how much the third installment of the series moved me. The latest Antman earlier this year was a baffling mess. And the reviews I'd read in advance were rather polarizing. There were some tonal issues here and there, but overall, Gunn's final entry in the MCU is incredibly cohesive in its thematic throughline and made with a lot of love and care. It's also quite dark - something that apparently peeved a few of the reviewers. But I think it was apt. It's quite intense at times and it needs to be. Gunn crafted a lovely and quite emotional farewell to one of his most popular creations. Warmly recommended. |

I saw the last ant man. It was a bit messy, but I thought it was a cool looking flick and fun.
