My wife hates it because she can't stand "theater people".
I know them, so it felt spot on, their vainglorious ego.

From imdb's Trivia page: Each of this movie's 65,000 frames is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Vincent van Gogh, created by a team of one hundred painters. It's very nicely done, but the animation does distract from the story a bit. I live very nearby where Vincent grew up but never bothered to visit the museum over there, or any of the remaining sites. When I was young, the only times we used to visit that village was because it had a very good Chinese restaurant. After that I watched Last Witch Hunter with Vin Diesel

I wanted to stream the new Dune, but can't yet without paying. So I watched the old one. Very weird, sort of like a merge between Dr. Who and Tremors. Bizarrely cheap looking special effects. Sting plays one of the bad guys Definitely wouldn't be starting on reading the book because of this movie, if I hadn't already read it

I saw a tweet a few months ago where someone said they'd been to a bar that was playing Lynch Dune and Villeneuve Dune on two TVs right next to each other.

it's got some very funny moments. I loved Scarlett Johansson in it. A but weird that they even put Jonah Hill on the poster, his role is very minimal I just looked at the cast on imdb. Didn't even recognise Frances McDormand, she had one of the best parts. I never heard of Alden Ehrenreich before (not a name to easily forget even). A bit strange that he got such a big part in such a star casted film. He was good though. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension what? yeah exactly Adventurer, brain surgeon, rock musician Buckaroo Banzai and his crime-fighting team, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, must stop evil alien invaders from the eighth dimension who are planning to conquer Earth. it's very eighties, Jeff Goldblum has an insanely weird outfit, even for that era. For the rest, it's sort of Dr. Who meets Hitchhikers Guide, something like that. Entertaining, but not that much more.

A really well-put-together talking heads doc that actually keeps the talking heads at a minimum and instead opts to recreate a lot of the anecdotes with comic strip-esque animatics. There is a suprisingly large amount of Rowland S. Howard giving his side of things as well, considering he passed away in 2009. The documentary must have been in production for a long time. Lydia Lunch and Thurston Moore do get to say a few things too. It was a rollercoaster ride. The way The Birthday Party approached making music and touring was downright headache-inducing. They were absolutely fated to burn out that way. Amazing music though. Hearing all the sweet tunes in context made me want to play them at my events again - I put a bit of a break on that, because for a while I played them quite often. Great, inspired music, very talented people. Also: Massive egos. I kind of don't like Nick Cave, even though I love The Birthday Party and can appreciate his talent given certain arrangements (Not that big a fan of his later stuff as a whole, though there are a few bangers here and there; I always preferred Rowland there.). |

I had recorded both Red Sparrow and Black Swan from TV some time ago. Yesterday I decided to watch them, but I had forgotten what this movie was really about. Thinking that it's a movie about a ballet dancer, well it isn't. Normally I like these types of movies, about Russian undercover spy operations, but this one was a bit too much for me, too much gore, too much mutilations etc. Amazing movie, she definitely earned her Oscar for this one. I'll definitely want to watch it again, going to buy it on DVD/BluRay whatever. Bloody commercial breaks were all at the wrong moments and it seemed the TV broadcast had cut off the ending. I always hate it when there are no end credits at all, but that's waste of time for the TV broadcasters who much rather spend it by airing useless commercials. Kind of weird that this movie was sponsored by McDonald's

ugh, those dialogues I really can't stand the way they are talking in this movie (and basically most of these superhero movies). They all speak in a sort of groaning way, that annoys the hell out of me
