my confusion was - why would you need quarters to dry towels?

Oh yeah....I live in an apartment....and...they have a washer and dryer here, but you need to pay for each use. They actually suck and are EXPENSIVE! The washer works ok, but it's extremely small. The dryer blows chunks. You need to use it twice each time for one load of laundry. I only use 'em for "emergenecies" I normally go home at least once a week or so to visit me mum. So when I go home I take my laundry there.

There's also a sign that reads "In the unlikely even that the washer or dryer does not work please make sure that the appliance is plugged into the GFI outlet and reset if needed."

once you do that the piece of shit dryer still doesn't work. Luckily there's a laundromat 2 blocks away...
