I just want to say I love the Velvet Underground, been listening to them since I was a crazy teen. I could listen to I'll be your mirror over and over. Nico has such a cool voice.

Agreed. But my favourite song that she sings on is "All Tomorrow's Parties"
That being said, I love all the songs on this album. It's in my top 5 of all time

The Day-By-Day book, I assume? My copy arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm loving it so far, despite only being up to '64 - it's high fucking time there was another worthwhile VU book to file alongside Uptight & Feedback

That would be a brilliant start. Uptight too. I'd even recommend Victor Bockris' biography of Andy Warhol. It will get you into the whole spirit of the time.
Nico-wise, I'll never tire of it, read 'Songs they Never Play On The Radio'. It'll make you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.

The Day by Day book is amazing. I would recommend it to every Velvet fan who can't get enough of them.

On a side note, a friend of mine found a 45 by a band called The Primitives, which is supposedly Lou Reed and John Cale's first garage group. I haven't heard it yet, but apparently its worth a ton of money and not that great.

Anyone know of it?

Probably the reissue that came out a few years ago - on the off-chance it's an original, it's worth upwards of $500.

It's a pretty sweet record too for a teen dance-crazecash-in - unlike all of Reed's other pre-Velvets output, his distinctive VU guitar/vocal style is more-or-less all there.
