OK, this is all gonna sound like one massively trivial 'first world problem' but it's seriously doing my head in. I've got to share an office with someone at work who until now I always thought I got on with. The problem is she's started sticking posters up all over the walls. I've nothing against that in principle but the posters are just seriously naff and because we're rarely in the office together, anyone who comes in to see me immediately sees just me, surrounded by them, and it's embarrassing. I've politely mentioned this to her but she doesn't seem to get that someone might not want to be surrounded by her wacky posters at work. But it's getting to the point where I actually feel I have to explain to anyone who comes in to see me that they're not mine - which is obviously not a great situation. I could just stick up posters that I like which might annoy her, but I don't want to turn this into a tit for tat thing. I now actually think this person is a moron, reflected in the posters she's put up, but I can hardly tell her that and I'd sound like a total control freak if I said we shouldn't put up anything on the walls at all. I just can't think what to do, or if I'm even being unreasonable in all this. Sorry for the long post but if anyone's been in a similar situation I'd seriously appreciate knowing how you dealt with it, or would deal with it if you were. Bear in mind though, I'm a pathologically non-confrontational person so I really want to avoid a massive argument.

i have the same problem with the house i rent
there is furniture, 5 ugly closet, an ugly couch i asked the homeowner if i could put them away and he said NO so i sit here now for 8 years in this place with the ugly furniture and i also say to other people that they are not mine i think it comes down to how much interest you give to the problem if you try to solve it and knowing how to leave it if you can't get a problem fixed don't give the problem any value i don't care about the ugly furniture after i try to solve it nothing more i can do and then the problem dies where it started in my head |

the furniture didn't had problems with me
i started to see it as a problem / luxury problem translated to your office situation: the poster didn't had no problem with you you see the posters as a problem if you don't care anymore what for fucking posters there are hanging even it ain't yours even if you tried to solve the problem then the problem is solved you let it be it is not you |

I think that's all I can do, really. Thanks. The posters are seriously appalling, though. |

I went to a party last night, I took over the music for a while. I was playing a mixture of Ramones/Pixies and stuff like that. This Romanian guy comes over and says turn this shit off, I want to play something. I said let me DJ for a while, everyone is enjoying it. He kept getting right up in my face so I said what do you want to play. He said I want to play some Dead Mouse. When I drink I tend to have a bit of a loose tongue so I told him I'll tell you what get some taste in music and come back, then you can DJ. He went a bit crazy and got a knife out. Luckily my friends intervened and calmed him down but it was a close one.

The worst thing isn't the posters but the fact a person can be so inconsiderate and self obsessed as to put them up in the first place. No thought for anyone else. Her lack of consideration matched only by her lack of taste. Hopefully she'll die of a heart attack over the weekend so I can take them down.

for the love of arcade
remember the oldschool days when plundering the arcade machines using childeren to steel the money because they had small arms that could reach the money box then with that money we bought candy or we sabotages the arcadebox to have free credit to play games and sometimes it worked and we had unlimited free games all day also worked on pinballs free rides on bumber cars always try'ing something because i didn't had cash stay creative SABOTAGE |

ahh.. arcades
I remember back in the day in the early 90's playing Street Fighter with my Dad in local arcade in our town's mall and once on a camping trip I found want seemed like a "quarter heaven" someone had stashed what seemed like a whole ice-cream bucket of quarters to do laundry... and what did I do... filled my pockets ran down to the arcade to beat some random game I could never beat. I go so far that day in favourite game, but can't remember what the hell it was. Fighting game like Streets of Rage. Are arcades still big in Japan? |
