this is always such aq misconception. take standing by the sea on zen arcade. probably the most emotional song on the album but it isnt emo. its more of a ballad type song if not definitvely a ballad.

Emo appeared in 86 during revolution summer in WDC with Rites of Spring and Embrace. It lasted just about the summer. Then somewhere down the line in the early 90's seriously super lame shit appropriated the expression.
