I know he said it sounded like a horrible idea.

Yeah, he didn't say a lot more than that in his personal message to me. He just graciously asked that I remove him so that he wouldn't see further updates on the page and said he'd rather it didn't exist, but left that up to me. I hate removing things like that once they've been created, so I'm just leaving it sit and not pushing it any further. Petition made; directly answered; case closed. If somebody else wants to create a Sonic Youth please tour with the Pop Group group, I wish them well... |

I'm honestly a bit surprised he even cared enough to reply to begin with. I mean, everyone KNOWS the likelihood of it happening is slim to zilch...but still, strange. Maybe he doesn't want anyone to be confused into believing that there is a possibility.
Still, I'd much rather see something like this than say Sonic Youth w/ Pavement. But then again, SY + Pavement probably maker better sense these days being that there hasn't been much challenging about the music of SY since Sonic Nurse (I love the Eternal, BTW, but it was still straight-ahead compared to most of their other work...) I always wondered if there was some level of animosity because of Confusion is Sex. My Swans friends tend to think SY ripped them off on that one...of course, I don't agree. But still... Die hard Swans fans in the area tend to not dig the Youth so much.
